"I defy you, stars!", Romeo, (V, i)

Friar John never reaches Mantua because of fear of the plague. Balthasar, Romeo's man, having heard the dreadful news of Juliet's "death" , rushes to Romeo to tell him. Romeo buys some poison from a poor apothecary, which he intends to drink by Juliet's side. After a lot of commotion and a fight in which Romeo kills Paris, Romeo drinks the poison and dies next to Juliet "O you, The doors of breath, seal with a righteous kissA dateless bargain to engrossing death!Come, bitter conduct, come, unsavoury guide!Thou desperate pilot, now at once run onThe dashing rocks thy sea-sick weary bark! Here's to my love!"
Friar Laurence enters the Capulet tomb and sees Rome and Paris dead. Juliet wakes up and sees her love dead. Hearing to noise of coming guards, Friar Laurence urges Juliet to leave with him. She does not, but instead kisses Romeo so that the poison on his lips may kill her. It does not, and stabs herself with Romeo's dagger before the guards arrive, "O happy dagger! This is thy sheath;there rust, and let me die."
The Capulets, Montagues and Prince Escalus come onto the scene. The Prince chides the elders of the two families, "Capulet! Montague!See, what a scourge is laid upon your hate,That heaven finds means to kill your joys with love. And I for winking at your discords too Have lost a brace of kinsmen: all are punish'd". The two families decide to end the blood feud, and the Prince concludes:
"A glooming peace this morning with it brings; The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head:Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things; Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:For never was a story of more woe Than this of Juliet and her Romeo."

After hearing of her "death", Romeo goes to Juliet's tomb where he drinks poison and dies. When Juliet's potion wears off, she awakens to find her lover's corpse. She then proceeds to stab herself with Romeo's dagger. The two families find their bodies and in their shared sorrow, finally make peace with each other. But of course this peace did not bring a real solution to the problems in our minds. What if they made a peace beforehand? The answer to this question should be like that. Then they will not love each other so much and this will not become a very popular love story:)

Here at last, on the shores of the oceans of heaven, Romeo and Juliet embrace the death and flee to their immortality where they shall never be far apart again while whom they left behind, the two families, weeping for their loss,in deed weeping for what they have caused, blaming themselves and judging their hearts upon Friar telling the secrecy of the love and marriage of two lovers. The Prince of Verona, in deep anger and sadness, gives a final warning to the feuding families. The Capulets and Montagues reach an agreement, establish the peace but too late is the time to end the enduring discord for the seal of the Capulets and the Montagues passed away.

Romeo knows only that fate has somehow tried to separate him from Juliet. When Romeo goes to Juliet’s town, he screams “Then I defy you, stars”. He is screaming against the fate that he believes is hindering his desires. He attempts to defy that fate by killing himself and spending eternity with Juliet. In killing himself by drinking poison over the sleeping Juliet, he ensures their ultimate double suicide. When Juliet’s potion wears off, she finds her love’s dead body and because she does not want to live without him kisses Romeo so that the poison on his lips kils her. With the deaths of them, the enemy families come together, but everything should be beforehand not later.

Poor Romeo and Juliet suffered from the kinship between their families. It is the silliest thing in the world, I think. There are two lovers but they must not love each other because of their families. This kinship causes their death. The prince says that some of them will be punished. However, they know that their children will not come back, so they are full of regret.
This scene impressed me very much. We can see how big their love was once more. t

I think, the most impressing sentence in the play is "For never was a story of more woe Than this of Juliet and her Romeo."
It is the conclusion sentence which strikes the reader, it seems to me that every single word in the play is because of
structuring this sentence at the end. From the very beginning of the play we are informed about this unhappy end,
nevertheless we can't help feeling deep sorrow in the bottom of our hearts when everything finishes. It is the strenght of the destiny,
even if Romeo tries to oppose to stars by saying "I defy you stars!". No matter what they do, it is inevitable this terrible end.Romeo feels that something bad is going to happen before meeting Juliet, but he still does not give up his destination. Also, even if
we know that they will both going to die at the end, we always seek for a miracle for a happy end.It is a dilemma in fact, summary of
the world. Usually, most of the people know what is going to happen in the end, but they do not give up hoping about the reverse.
There are two terms conflicting:"the destiny" and "the hope" playing with the readers' feelings throughout the play. Sometimes "the hope" wins the destiny, but in this play we can see that the unique winner is the fate.

The end that we are waiting from the very beginning of the text become real. The tragedy is that two big lovers kills themselves as they think the other one is dead .
from the very beginning Shakespere actually gives us clues that there will be a a sad ending. They can not show their love because of the kinship between their families but after their death two family give an end to this kjinship which is really ironic. At least they were married when they died.what makes this story so popular ?I think people love the stories which have bad endings because they are reqally emotional and romantic and generally people like romanticism. If they came together and lived happily it would not be very interesting for people to remember.
Shakespere created a very famous love story which is stillone of the most famous one thanks to the its tragedy.

As Romeo sees Juliet lying dead, he immediatey drinks the potion because Romeo thinks that without Juliet the life is not meaningful. At this time, Juliet wakes up and she sees her husband dead. So, she kisses his lips without hesitation hoping she might die by the same potion but it is vain. In the meantime, she stabbed herself. After both of them are dead, their families have a great sorrow. Unfortunately, peace comes after Romeo and Juliet are dead. I am deeply affected by their deaths. After their deaths, Capulets and Montagues make peace. I am sure that their love is really true because they prefer dying to living apart from each other. Killing themselves is an evidence of their big love Maybe this sorrowing end makes this story special.

Finally, Romeo and Juliet had a chance to embrace each other with the help of death unfortunately. Romeo was daylight for Juliet and Juliet was a star for Romeo. Now, the hatred of two families brought their end when they would be reunited by the help of Friar Lawrence because it was their fate, which made their story unforgettable. First, Juliet drinks a potion that makes her appear dead. Thinking her dead, Romeo then drinks a poison that actually kills him. Seeing him dead, Juliet stabs herself by Romeo’s dagger. They unconsciously brought their end together. Then, I can say that passion also ties them in their death. From the very beginning, we know the end but words of both lovers are very effective us to feel pain which is in love and their end shows me to see two contrasting things “despair” and “hope” and it is clear that fate both brought them together and separated them forever...

this is the best act for me.shakespeare uses language perfectly. after hearing juliet death, romeo takes a poison and goes to the her tomb. romeo thinks that she died, but in real she is alive. she just seems as if she died in few minutes later she will open her eyes. when she opens her eyes she sees that romeo drinks poison. then she kills also herself because they are "star-crossed lovers"....

the blood feud came to an end..how nice! the two lovers are dead even one more,Paris, who might love J.that's unfair. still we hear such things. i am sure the fighters of two families have, had, no idea about what they are fightin for. they just follow what the olders say. that s a really sorrow end. we all hate the montegues and the capulets i mean the rest! but Shakespeare knew that if the true lovers did not die, this masterpiece would not be a famous one all around the world. even uneducated people know Romeo and Juliet. :)

Finally, the dark peace comes after the death of two big lovers. At the end, they prove their big loves by ending their life for each other without any hesitation. Every event which happens though the play contributes to the tragic end of Romeo and Juliet, and finally they experience their pre-ordinate fate. The fight between their families is not a hindrance for their love, but unfortunately, they become sacrifices of it at the end. Their families make peace with each other, but it is too late for Romeo and Juliet.

Actually poor Romeo is fed up with bad events and the worst Juliet's death, he starts cursing and says I reject you stars,I do not believe you, I do not accept you. All these events enough for me. he tries to be opposite of the destiny but after a short time he says this important quotation, he dies and they can not meet and destiny appears again.

romeo is very upset because he thinks that juliet is dead. he was in a marvellous love with her and living without her is impossible for romeo. romeo says this impressive sentence. he states that he reacts against the stars. therefore, it ironically fulfills the lovers’ tragic destiny.

What unlucky lovers they are... Romeo thinks that she is dead. Romeo then drinks a poison that kills him. Juliet awakens, and stabs herself with Romeo's dagger. The inevitability of fate was the only winner in their lives.

When Romeo sees Juliet, he loses his belief aganist fate. And he killed himself. Everything could be better, but something hindered it. They did not escape from fate. The fate brought double suicide at the end.

When Romeo hears that Juliet is dead, he defies stars. Actually,he defies his terrible fate. Fate controls and directs the two lovers'life. The feud between two families, Romeo's kiling Tybalt and the other events all are caused by fate. Romeo blames fate for his unluckiness. Romeo opposes the fate that brings only unhappiness. At the end, fate causes two lovers' tragic end.

After killing Tybalt, Romeo utters these words. He says "hey my fate! you cannot change me and my end either.I wanted to kill Tybalt and did it.I have the power and am the final word in my decisions."In addition, Romeo does not believe that people's fate is predetermined. Here we also see that Shakespeare reflects his own views about fate via Romeo...

Romeo utters this unforgetable qutoes when he,unfortunately, was informed that Juliet committed suicide.Actually it is a trio of quotes. The first'stars crossed lovers',the second 'I am a fortune's fool' and the last is that. All shows the inevitable consequences of this lovers.
To me,this quote is as effective as the whole play.It shows the denial and acceptance of a desperate lover.

At the beginnig Romeo and Juliet are identified as'star-crossed lovers'.ıt means that the stars are against them. here Shakespeare is using astrology ,although people believe it in those days. their destinies are fixed in the stars. The stars didn't want Romeo and Juliet to get together.
juliet wants to be with romeo and so that she drinks the poison and pretends as a dead person. but romeo doesnt know the plan and kills himself and drinks poison
and dies. when he dies juliet getsup and she sees romeo
is dead and for that time kills herselr really. not a
good story it is.befeore killing himself he defy stars
because they are responsible for juliet's death. ıt is
their fate.

Even if Romeo and Juliet are aware of their unlucky fates from the very begining of the play,Romeo tries to defy their fates by crying "I defy you stars."That utterance is a kind of rebellion against the unlucky fate, maybe just a show of helplessness. In fact ,Romeo and all the characters are aware of that unlucky end, they are star-crossed lovers as the Chorus states at the begining of the play. They are controlled by their fates and they couldn't help.Romeo understands that a life without his passionate lover is impossible to live,so he shows a type of rebelion by defying the stars, controlling their fates.Their families feuding is an obstacle for their love and that is their fate. They try to change it by loving each other in spite of enmity between the families, yet the ill-fortune lovers cannot help. Each of the events seem to be determined the fate such as plague obscuring Friar John reaching Mantua to inform Romeo about Friar Laurence's plan for happy marriage. Moreover, the tragic timing of Romeo's suicide and then Juliet's awakenink also leads to their unlucky destiny.after their deth the fam, ilies come and see the two dead bodies of their children, they decide to end that absurd feuding but it is worthless. All these show that Romeo and Juliet are the victims of their star-crossed destinies.

from the beginning of the play we see the inevitability of the fate. at the initial part of the play with the utterances;
"from forth the fatal loins of these two foes
a pair of star-crossed lovers take their life"
we see it easily. when Romeo goes to Juliet's tomb where she dies and he screams "I defy you, stars!" he screams against the fate that seperate him from the Juliet. he declares himself openly opposed to the destiny that so grieves him.

Actually all the characters( and we all) know the inevitable end, they are star-crossed lovers. The fate controls them.Romeo does not want a life without Juliet so he defies the stars, controlling their fates. Their families are in fight with each other and this is a problem for their love. They know this enmity is their fate. However, Romeo does not believe that the fate determines the people’s life and end. We understand this from Romeo’s own words ‘ I wanted to kill Tybalt and did it. Ihave the power and I am the final word in my decisions

This quote, “Then I defy you, stars,” was made after Romeo learned that Juliet was dead. He means fate by stars. He denies his fate. With this quote, Romeo is declaring himself in opposition to destiny, although his resulting actions actually bring it about. Romeo commits suicide, prompting Juliet to do the same, which fulfills the tragic destiny of the star-crossed lovers.

Obviously, Romeo is screaming against the fate when he screams “Then I defy you, stars!”. Trying to change the fate, Romeo kills himself thinking that death will bring them together. However, he forgets about the extreme power of fate and he does not realise that Juliet is alive, so at the end, the enmity of the two families results in their children’s death.

In the end, as the predeterminism of fate showed us, the lovers die. we discussed fate, which is a dominant theme of the play. as we understand from the end f the story, the feud between the two families ends. Fate is the dominant theme of the play. Romeo believes that his fate tries to separate him from Juliet. When he screams “I defy you, stars.” He is in fact screaming against his fate. Throughout the play, Poor Romeo struggles to do his best in order to come over his destiny that brings fate. Although he knows that Juliet is a Capulet, he wants Friar Lawrence to marry him to Juliet. Even this marriage can’t prevent the fate from taking its role and two star crost lovers take their life…….
