A pair of star-crost lovers take their life....
We got to start the play this week at last! What made you think this lesson? Was it anything about the life of Queen Elizabeth I? How about the prologue before Act I? Or Romeo's pre-Juliet poetry? Oh, feather of lead, bright smoke, cold fire, sick health.....

In a fourteen-line sonnet, the Chorus describes two noble households and two star crossed lovers. Their love is impossible because their families are in fight for dying. The function of the Prologue is not only serve as an introduction to the play but also tells what is going to be happen during the play.We usually do not know what is going to be happen at the end of a play but in Romeo and Juliet we know what is going to happen therefore we expect the play to meet our needs.
Murat quotes;
I strongly believe that the lesson is going to be much joy and pleasure for us. We shall have the opportunity to deeply analyze the linguistics and literal milestones of the Britain during the Golden Age as well as having the pleasure of reading the art-craft of the world's greatest writer, Shakespeare. As for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth I, it is another contributing factor for me to have positive feeling about this course for I am hot on history. Concerning the prologue, it is an outcome of wit of the writer to let the audiende or the reader witness the end even before it has happened but still being able to keep the story alive and managing to make the reader have curiousity about the course of the story. The prologue and the Act I are of great importance to reveal the emnity and long discord between two families and to unleash their feeling full of hatred for each other.
I believe that the lesson will be joyful to all students because the theme of our drama lesson is familiar to us.We have a lot of stories like Romeo and Juliet in our culture and I think learning this story will be very useful. This is a story about two lovers who are the children of two enemy families.Act I is very important for understanding the hatred between families and I hope the lesson will be very joyful and useful for everybody...
this term we will be dealing with the subject of romeo and juliet in our drama courses. It is really interesting to read this work from its original copy.We all kmonow much or less about Romeo and Juliet, one of the most famous work of Shakespere. We knoew that it has not got a happy ending. However , reading the whole text give us a chance to leaqrn much about the workj.
There are lots of rhyme in the sonnets and ı Should confess that I like this harmony between lines. It is also important that there are lots of Shakesperean words .We understand that Shakespere is really important for english literature.
There are characteres in he work that I heard for the first time .I like the nurse very much:)
As a fourth year student,I think that lecture should be given in our first year as it is so enjoyable and motivating that it enables any of students who have some problem in communicating with others.
I like the lecture as it gives room for our thoughts.Besides, the meaningful words that are scattered by Shakespeare are analyzed and taken new aspects by every commentor.
The prologue tells exactly what is the play is going to be about and raieses questions in people's mind about lovers, their families, and the power of love.
I am pretty sure that this lesson will be very enjoyable for us because Romeo and Juliet is an interesting love story. The feuding of the families is the whole reason for the tragedy. They do not even know what they are fighting about. The prologue tells us shortly what comes in the sunnet. So, it is more motivating to know what will happen beforehand. In my opinion, the most interesting part of this story is Romeo and Juliet do not take the time to get to know each other and form a deep intimate relationship. They rush into their relationship. On the other hand, I am curious about how Romeo forgets his love, Rosaline, and falls in love with Juliet immediately.
we are really happy to read some important literature pieces of the most influental writer in all of English Literature -William Shakespeare.I think we will enjoy analyzing the magnificant lines of Romeo and Juliet.Regarding the prologue,we can say that it's a fourteen-line sonnet and in this fouteen-line sonnet what is important is the statement of "star-crossed"lovers.As with the literal meaning,it means against the stars and stars were thought to control people's fates. As a result, the Prologue itself creates this fate and provides us the knowledge that Romeo and Juliet will eventually die no matter what they do.
this is a very well-known love story, however i am very glad that i will have all the details about it. the course seems pretty fun as we talk about the love or the true love. at first Romeo was in love with a girl Rosaline ( the love) and suddenly he forgot everything about R. and he falls in love with Juliet ( the true love) . ıt makes me think about whether R. really loved Rosaline. maybe he loved her because he thought he would love her? he does know nothing about J. but he falls in love with her at first sight. when you know someone and if she is a perfect(?) model for you, you think she is very nice, loveable, why not to love her? however, when you meet the true love you think about nothing yet her/him. nothing about her family, nothing about her fortune, nothing about her education or so. that's the time when you become blind! Romeo's feelings suddenly changes, which lightens the fact that he was pretending to be in love with R, without being aware of. i really liked the way the author pointed it out. the readers would not be so engaged with the story if Romeo was in love with J. from the very beginning of the story. regardless, the true love occured and we will see the progress :)
ı completely believe that the class will be the one that ı will always remember in the future and tell my colleagues joyfully about it. ı know that a drama is an important way for a prospective teacher to express herself easily. besides, Romeo and Juliet is a famous story even for Turks so ı am happy to invite most of my relatives to the drama that we will enact.
furthermore, ı have some new information about Queen Elizabeth. before the class ı have already heard many intrigues about her life. ı had a big curiosity about her job and love stories :)as you know there some films around so she is the most wellknown queen by Turks in British history .
ın my opinion, the prologue before Act 1 is full of Shakespeare literature because it narretes two noble households and two star crossed lovers. there are both sadness and happiness.it is very important because it states this big hostility between Romeo and Juliet's families. ı hope we will do our best to get a successful drama together.
a pair of star-crost lovers..
an adorable expression..
I am in the opinion that it will be a delight to take this course, especially for those who like literature and reading love stories a lot like me:),because we have a chance of reading and analyzing "Romeo and Juliet"-the masterpiece of the world's famous writer. When I was a little girl,I used to worry about who Romeo and Juliet were whenever I heard their names. One day I went to the city library, found the book and read it without taking breath. Its end was a dissapointment for me.When we started to read "Romeo and Juliet",I also remembered my childhood days, the day that I spent in library reading Shakespeare's great work,Romeo and Juliet, was the first time when I read a work of Shakespeare .
When it comes to the prologue before Act one,I can say that we understand the importance and greatness of Shakespeare when we read this part. How can a writer make readers curious about the play even we know its end from the very beginning? Shakespeare manages to keep the play alive and the play comes to our day without losing its importance. As I said,we guess the end of the story when we look at the prologue before act 1,and also it reflects the degree of enmity between two families and the results of this enmity.
Actually, i liked the story about VIII.Henry and Anne Boleyn.
It was so impressing that nobody was able to find real happiness
in their lives in this story, everybody was penalized becouse of their infirmities. For example Anne Boleyn had very strong
desire to be the Queen of the country but this dream brought her death at the end. Also Henry seeked happiness like a fool with lots of women, but he had never a healthy son to make him the future king. It is also so strange that Anne's doughter became one of the strongest leader throughout the British history which Anne couldn't live longer in order to see this event. We can infer lots of advices in this story like that saying:
"We should aware of the small flowers that are destroyed under our feet while
we are trying to catch our dreams.Otherwise, we can be in this flower's position one
day":PPP
I strongly believe that this course will be one of the ones that i will always remember with a great pleasure beacuse i love this kind of romantic dramas and it is a perfect experience for us to have the chance of analyzing one of the works of Shakespeare.
I was 15years old when i first watched the movie of Romeo&juliet and i can still remember the quote
"Love goes toward love, as schoolboys from
their books,
But love from love, toward school with heavy looks."
It is something unusual to learn what is going to happen at the end of the story(ROmeo&juliet are going to die),in the very beginning. However, it still makes people wonder about the story.
While you read it you happen to find out really different words describing things in an adorable way.
To tell the truth, it is very hard to get the exact meaning of the words for the first time you read but when you analyze them, u can t help appreciating Shakespeare:)
I strongly believe that we will have great time during drama course, because we are covering one of the most attractive and familiar topic - love and enmity between families.
Even though prologue tolds us the end of the play at the very beginning and we all have know the play has a bad ending, we are eager to analysis how things prepare that bad ending.
Among many boring lessons this drama course is our rescuer I think. During our rhearsals we will have enjoyable time.
In this story stars deermine people's fate.Romeo and Juliet are star-crost lovers, because they are two unlucky lover. Their unfortunate deaths put an end to ther parents feud.
This course is the most entertaining one this term. And Romeo and Juliet is a well-known story. We also have some stories similar to Romeo and Juliet in our culture. So I believe that everybody will enjoy this course.
This course enables us to analyze a big literature work by William Shakespeare. Romeo and Juliet is a well known love story, and examining it deeply will be enjoyable. At the beginning, reading and understanding Shakespeare’s works are difficult, but when you are able to start to read between the lines, you understand that he is a great expert in describing all feelings. Romeo and Juliet is a nice sample of it. Romeo and Juliet fall deeply in love with each other, but their families are bitter enemies. Until the end of the play, they make everything for their love, but, unfortunately their love ends in tragedy as it is informed in the prologue. The ‘star-crossed’ expression informs us about their future. It is used their destinies. They love each other, but what will happen is obvious from the beginning of their love. Unfortunately, they will have to experience their inevitable tragic end of their love.
The lesson provides an opportunity for us to carefully study one of Sheakspeare’s most known and most frequently perfomed plays. Although having wanted to have the knowledge about the play that is the most famous love story in English literary tradition, I never read the whole content of it until now. However, after the first lesson, I read the summary of “ Romeo and Juliet”. I thought that the play didn’t include something special, interesting, in fact, it was boring; yet, after we have analyzed Sheakspeare’s use of language, I believe that the play deserves to become a classic. To me, the language Sheakspeare used is difficult to understand but impressive.
The prologue before Act I tells the end of the play. It refers to the destiny of the two characters, and means that Romeo and Juliet will be never reunited with each other; the death will separate them.

I'm really happy and excited to read and analyse such an important literature piece of W.Shakespeare.Romeo and Juliet's love story seems to be impossible because of the feud between their families, but the two lovers don't care about their names and the meaningless enmity of their families, so they live their love without any hesitation. This shows us the power of love and until the end of the story they struggle for their love, but unfotunately this love story turns into a tragedy that makes me very sad!
I had a presentation about one of Shakespeare's play in our literature class. Its name is Twelve Night and I rellay liked the play because the style of Shakespeare writing and the way he transmitted his opinion into letters. The topic of Romeo and Juliet is universal. That is, we can see it nearly in every culture. However, the thing which makes it wonderful and very famous is the art Shakespeare used ,especially the art reflecting the Renaissance influence.I believe that it will be very intersting to act this play after understanding the quotations of it deeply.
in my opinion this lesson is very joyful and beneficial for us. it is beneficial because we can very active for this lesson. and this activeness is beneficial for our job.
Everyone may have heard who are Romeo and Juliet but a few people know more information about them. This course will help us become from the 'a few people.' We are so lucky. Romeo and Juliet... Two unlucky lovers... They just love each other at the cost of their lives. Their being from two enemy families has become the first adversity for them and the second one, the death for that love. The quotation explains their adversity clearly. The events in the story take place toward their out of countenances.
We are fourth year students this year, and I think it is a must for us to know such an important play, especially if it is Shakespere’s play as future’s English teachers. This course will be a good experiment for us. We will write a play and act it out in front of our teachers and friends. Additionally, we will enjoy in the courses, we will be together in our last year.
The prologue inform us about what will happen, the families, love between Romeo and Juliet, and their fate ( star¬-crossed lovers ).
This year will be enjoyable because we will analyse such an important literature piece of W.Shakespeare. Romeo and Juliet is a well known love story, which seems to be impossible because there are two enemy families. The ‘star-crossed’ expression indicates us about Romeo and Juliet’s future. Although they seem very happy in the beginning of the act 1, it ends tragically.
In our drama course we will deal with the subject of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. It is a well known love story and we will read it from its original copy. The ‘star-crossed’ expression informs us about Romeo and Juliet. Although we always expect happy endings in love stories, Romeo and Juliet’s love ends tragically.
The start of the play exactly shows how the people in Elizabethan times value men and women and marriage as well.At that times, people thought that a girl of at the age of 13 or 14 was ready to marry and a potential mother and women had to respect their husbands, so we see an unequal society. Also the other belief was the predetermination of the fate by the stars. At the prologue we are also informed about the final of the tragic story.

this qoutation taht we see in the initial part of the play shows us the impossibility of Romeo and Juliet's love even before the play begins. it foreshadows the events. The Prologue does not merely set the scene of Romeo and Juliet, it tells the audience exactly what is going to happen in the play. The Prologue refers to an ill-fated couple with its use of the word “star-crossed,” which means, literally, against the stars. Stars were thought to control people’s destinies. But the Prologue itself creates this sense of fate by providing the audience with the knowledge that Romeo and Juliet will die even before the play has begun. The audience therefore watches the play with the expectation that it must fulfill the terms set in the Prologue. The structure of the play itself is the fate from which Romeo and Juliet cannot escape.
The play mostly resembles our culture. In our country, we can see such love and such an unhappy end. I think this plot is very enjoyable and motivates us. Actually, ı did not know the whole plot. I wanted to have more details about it.And each detail we got from the acts, makes us more curious about the play and we wondered what would happen next. We could guess the end if we read the act 1 but, the details that made us curious.
this is now end of term but I wanted to write something about the course. as I see from the previous years students I thought it would be very interesting and amusing for us during the term. before I started this lesson I didn't have any idea about the Romeo and Juliet, whether it is about the queen Elizabeth or not. Now, thanks to lesson I know what it is and what is no about.
